21st May 2025
Well done to Ellie and Hannah, S6, who recently made a trip to London to receive their DoE Gold Award! Here is their account of the day:
Firstly, we entered Buckingham Palace Gardens and received programmes with the events running throughout the day. There were various bands playing music, each were a different Brigade in the Army. Additionally, there were guest speakers on stages dotted around the Garden. After spending time in the Gardens, at 4pm we gathered outside the Palace to take part in the National Anthem to welcome Prince Edward. He gave a speech and invited more guest speakers. These were particularly inspiring about why DofE is so beneficial. Prince Edward then entered the Gardens, and we were both lucky to be able to speak to him! He was really engaged with what we had to say. We also met a fellow pupil there, Stuart Norrington, who completed the Gold Expedition with us. Overall, we really enjoyed the event, and it proved all the cold nights in tents and navigational mistakes on DoE Expeditions was worth it in the end!
