Aryanna McAlpine – The Alumni of Belmont House School

23rd Jan 2025

As we approach our centenary year at Belmont House School, we wanted to look back, and reconnect with former pupils, near and far.

Here we have seven thoughtful questions that we ask our alumni focusing on their lives, successes, and the school’s influence.

Name: Aryanna McAlpine
Time period as a pupil at Belmont House: 2005-2020

How did your time at Belmont House School shape your career path?
Helped me gain a wide variety of work experience in a supportive environment which helped me with university offers.

Can you share a key moment or memory from your time at Belmont that had a lasting impact on you?
Performing in seasonal concerts with my friends and the fun we had rehearsing in practice rooms.

What skills or lessons learned at Belmont have been most valuable in your professional life?
How to be inclusive when working in a team and how to work collaboratively with a variety of age groups and abilities.

In what ways did Belmont House School’s community or culture contribute to your personal growth?
The smaller intimate nature of the school allowed for more personalised support and focus to those who required it both academically and personally.

Can you describe how Belmont’s teachers or extracurricular activities helped shape your future ambitions?
When I was younger, I was encouraged to join the volleyball club after school, this led to 10+ years of competing in a sport I now love. I went on to captain my university team at GCU as well as make my debut to play in the Scottish Premier Division.

What advice would you give to current Belmont students who want to follow a similar path to yours?
Try everything, extracurricular activities you enjoy are worth it and every after-school tutorial makes a difference, but consistency and communication is key to keep moving forward.

Belmont showed me to be in the right environment with the right support. I am just as able and capable as anyone else. Our thanks to Aryanna for sharing her experiences – would you like to feature as part of our Alumni of Belmont House School?
