As we approach our centenary year at Belmont House School, we wanted to look back, and reconnect with former pupils, near and far. Here we have seven thoughtful questions that we ask our alumni focusing on their lives, successes, and the school’s influence.

Time period as a pupil at Belmont House: (1980-1992)
Current Occupation: Freelance Musician and Celebrant
How did your time at Belmont House School shape your career path?
Little did I know where my path would go upon leaving school. I loved music from an early time at school through the wonderful music classes of Mrs Mabbott, Mrs Porteous and Mrs Ellen.
Can you share a key moment or memory from your time at Belmont that had a lasting impact on you? Performing in the school choir at Christmas gave me grounding in music and Christian Faith.
What skills or lessons learned at Belmont have been most valuable in your professional life?
I’ve grown with manners, public speaking and kindness through the lessons learned at Belmont.
In what ways did Belmont House School’s community or culture contribute to your personal growth?
My personal growth prospered by attending Belmont. As I said being taught properly the lessons of life by the staff at the school.
Can you describe how Belmont’s teachers or extracurricular activities helped shape your future ambitions?
As previously said, music and rugby where I became a referee with the support of Mr Kilgour, Mr Scott and Mr Teiger.
What advice would you give to current Belmont students who want to follow a similar path to yours?
Go for it. I am self employed and you need to learn to take the ups and downs of life and I certainly don’t look back with regret.
Looking back, how do you feel Belmont House School prepared you for the challenges and opportunities you’ve faced in life?
Belmont has been a good grounding for the challenges and opportunities which have arisen in my life. I’ve tackled them better with the grounding Belmont gave me.
