On Friday the Senior 3 went to the University of Glasgow to attend a Royal Society of Chemistry sponsored demonstration lecture entitled: Fantastic Plastic! The lecture given by Professor Avril MacDonald had the subtitle: How to make your first £million. During the lecture Prof. MacDonald described new and novel applications for plastics and how people had exploited simple properties of existing plastics to establish their own businesses and make millions of pounds. The lecture was inspirational and finished with some predictions based on RCID chips and how they could affect how we shop in the future, perhaps buying wireless TV sets that resemble large posters or mini tablets that are combined with our contact lenses.
