The Board of Governors at Belmont House School is mainly elected from members of the School Company. The members are invited to the Annual General Meeting, which is customarily held in December and there can discuss the School accounts, the election of new Board members and other relevant information. Most, but not all Governors are drawn from the parental body.

Governors:

• Keith A J McKellar (Chair)
Keith serves as Chair of the Board of Governors at Belmont House School. He’s an experienced CEO, non-executive director. His executive experience was gained in both the commercial, and medical and scientific research sectors, including the pharmaceutical industry, scientific and medical research organisations / charities, and scientific publishing. 
He is currently CEO of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, where he has served for the past 5 years. In terms of his non-executive experience, most recently he served as Chair of West College Scotland, as Chair of Ardgowan Hospice (Inverclyde), as a non-executive director on the Board of Colleges Scotland, and as a Trustee and Treasurer of the Presbytery of Ayr, Church of Scotland. He has significant experience of charity governance, finance and strategy.
Training initially as a scientist, after an initial period in clinical research he moved into management.  His scientific education and training was at Glasgow and Strathclyde universities and his management training at Said Business School, University of Oxford.
Married to Catriona, their family home is in Troon, South Ayrshire and all three of their children attended Belmont House School.
Outside of work, his interests include spending time with family, friends and looking after their menagerie of animals which includes two dogs, a cat and a horse and, when time permits, to indulge his interest in art (he is a keen watercolour artist with an interest in landscapes).

 

• Christine A. Campbell (Professionally known as Lawson)
Christine is the owner and founder of Eventage, a medical conferencing company established in 2005. Eventage serves a wide client base, including the Scottish Government, NHS, medical societies, academic institutions, and other health-related/medical organisations. She also works with several global organisations.
Her professional foundation is in the NHS, complemented by a career in the pharmaceutical industry. At GlaxoSmithKline, she spent almost 20 years in key roles spanning sales, management, marketing, strategic planning, and mergers & acquisitions.
Academically, Christine holds a Social Science and Nursing Degree from Edinburgh and an MBA from the University of Glasgow. Early in her career, she trained as a Paediatric Nurse, followed by specialisation as a Health Visitor. Her focus included safeguarding vulnerable children, with a particular emphasis on addressing physical and sexual abuse. Christine also has a strong interest in children’s mental well-being, a passion for child welfare and currently actively supports youth organisations.
Christine’s involvement with Belmont House School began in 2002, and she has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2008. All three of her adopted children have attended Belmont, fostering a deep commitment to the school community and the fabulous role it plays in offering independent education.

 

• Darren Glennie
Darren is a Chartered Architect with over 25 years of experience in private practice in Scotland and Northern Ireland. After graduating from Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, Darren practiced in Aberdeen, managing the delivery of various projects including 11 schools, various works for Aberdeen College and The Robert Gordon University. 
He relocated to Glasgow in 2006, joining a local architects office to lead the delivery of the largest health centre in Scotland and various University projects. Darren started A10 Architects Ltd in 2010, with offices now in Glasgow and Northern Ireland, providing Architectural, Interior Design, Project Management and H&S Services.
Darren has considerable experience in providing construction and H&S advice to charities and is currently a Trustee for Destiny Church Trust.  Darren previously held positions of Trustee and secretary of the SCA, a Scottish charity which specialises in providing resettlement housing and support to individuals in the central belt and was a member on the management board for SEP UK, a summer activity camp for over 150 teenagers where he was Site and Operations Manager ensuring delivery of the facilities for the camp.  He was also a board member of the Church Building Renewal Trust which assisted in the regeneration of church buildings.  Darren has been a Governor at Belmont House School since 2011 providing advice on property and H&S as required.
He is married to his wife Lee and has 2 children. Outside of work, his interests include spending time with family and friends, various outdoor activities and he is an avid rugby supporter. 

 

• John P Owen
John is an experienced educationalist and has spent nearly 40 years teaching in a variety of schools, mainly but not exclusively in the private sector. This has seen him teach in prestigious schools in England and abroad, but the last fifteen years of his career were happily spent in Scotland. Here he served in senior management roles, culminating in leading a private school in central Scotland.
After graduating from the University of Bath in Chemistry, and also completing his teacher training in science in the locality, he started his teaching career in south west England. Apart from a sojourn to France, he stayed in the south west, teaching successfully in schools ranging from a state comprehensive school to Clifton College, one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the country. His innate interest in all things mountaineering catalysed his move north.
Whilst completing the transition he achieved a masters degree in Educational Management from the University of the West of England. Alongside his classroom teaching, John has cultivated his interest and experience in outdoor pursuits and is very well qualified in all areas, ranging from skiing to canoeing. After leaving his formal career in teaching he started his own business providing training in all of these activities, mainly to young people.
As an experienced practitioner he sees his role on the Board as being supportive of the Principal and acting as a sounding board for all matters educational affecting Belmont House School. Outside the immediate world of education, John has also chaired the British Association of International Mountain Leaders, and is currently a member of a local Mountain Rescue Team. He lives in Dunblane and is married to Liz, who is an Educational Psychologist. They have two boys who are both currently in High School. All are active orienteers and this takes them to competitions at home and abroad. All are musical too, and, short of percussion, all aspects of an orchestra are represented in the family.

 

• Gerard Seenan
Gerry is a Chartered Accountant with over forty years’ experience. He retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2012 as Head of Pensions’ Assurance in Scotland. He subsequently took on a part-time role in the executive office of an AIM listed plc and as a consultant to a family-run electronics company.
After graduating from the University of Glasgow, he qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. During his career Gerry worked in Europe, the USA and the Far-East mostly on multi-national clients.
Throughout his career he has been involved heavily in education, training and assessment, and served as the moderator of the Institute’s Exam Board and Panel for both the Test of Professional Expertise, the final admitting exam, and for the Test of Professional Skills – Assurance and Business Systems.
He continues to mentor CA students in their final examination process. He is also a lay examiner for the MRCP Part 2 exam of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. During the SQA exams, he invigilates at Belmont House School.
Gerry has considerable experience of charity finance. He is currently the Treasurer and Chair of the Financial Governance Committee of the Ayrshire Hospice. He also held that position from 2014 to 2017. Gerry was previously a trustee and treasurer of Sense Scotland, a Scottish charity which specialises in providing social care and support to people with communication needs and their families. Gerry was co-opted to fill a casual vacancy on the board of Governors of Belmont House School in November 2024.
Married and living in Ayr, Gerry and his wife, Alicia, who is a chemistry teacher at the school, share a love of travel and music, attending tennis tournaments, and looking after their grandchildren.

 

• Lynn Stewart (Fairservice)
Lynn initially trained as a Nurse and after a rewarding career for 10 years changed direction. She has worked within Human Resources for the past 30 years’ having worked in the Private, Public and Charity Sector across the UK, within a variety of industries including Education, Healthcare, International Sporting Events and other Regulated Businesses.
She has a particular interest in the end-to-end candidate journey, ensuring that both candidate and hirer have a positive experience whatever the outcome of the process. In recent years, Lynn has worked with Independent Dental Group, St John Ambulance and OFGEM.
Lynn is a former parent of the school and served as a Member and Chair of the Parent Teacher Association for many years.
Married to Alan, and with one daughter, when not working Lynn enjoys going to the theatre and travelling when time allows!
