As part of our Geography and Biology assignments, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher students went to Millport to collect data. During our time in Millport we carried out field work, including tourism studies as well as coasts.
To help us each group had a tutor from the field study centre, informing us about the history of Millport and teaching us to collect our data independently. They also taught us new ways to process the data we had collected, which we could then refer to in our assignments. The trip was beneficial as we were able to experience geography and biology in a new environment. It was also a good experience as we were able to see the knowledge that we had gained in class applied to a real life situation.
The Millport field studies centre was an ideal location for us to stay in as it was in walking distance of where we carried out our field work, as well as providing class room space for us to discuss our findings and further expand our knowledge on the area. The overall experience was great as although our purpose for the trip was for work, we were still able to enjoy ourselves while doing it, as well as having our own time after, which included watching the Titanic.
