On Friday, 2nd June, the annual Business Awareness Day took place in the School. This event, which is aimed at Senior 3 pupils, involves the pupils working in small groups along with an adviser from the world of work on a range of business related activities. The day is a lot of fun, but the pupils also learn a great deal about how a business is run, as well as experiencing how to handle stress, develop marketing strategies, use their own initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
This event has run for a number of years and is always a great success, due to the ingenuity of our pupils, and the enthusiasm of the advisers, who often manage to become as competitive as the pupils in their efforts to win first prize! The event was chaired by Ms Janie Maxwell, one of our parents, and our visitors included Mr Michael Stachura, Business Manager for Robins & Day (Peugeot), Mrs Tracey Chrystal of Scotrail Abellio, and also a parent, Mrs Sheonagh Beaton of Sco-Fro Group Ltd, and a parent, and Mr James McLaren, General Manager/Director of G&M Radiators (now retired).
