On Tuesday, 22nd May, our annual Business Awareness Day took place. This event, which is aimed at S3 pupils, involves the pupils working in small groups along with an adviser from the world of work on a range of business related activities. The day is a lot of fun, but the pupils also learn a great deal about how a business is run, as well as experiencing how to handle stress, develop marketing strategies, use their own initiative and work effectively as part of a team. This event has run for a number of years and is always a great success, due to the ingenuity of our pupils, and the enthusiasm of the advisers, who often manage to become as competitive as the pupils in their efforts to win first prize!
This years event was chaired by Ms J Maxwell, one of our parents, and our visitors included Mr M Stachura, Business Manager for Robins & Day (Peugeot), Mrs T Chrystal of Scotrail Abellio (a parent), Mr A Beaton of Sco-Fro Group Ltd (a parent), and Mr R MacPherson. Finally, a special mention for Bob McDonald, who has participated in this event for a number of years, and attended this year to lend his valuable support. Mr Maguire, our Head of Careers, put the day together.
