An inspiring place of learning that, through personal attention, challenge and encouragement, enables each individual to achieve their potential.

Support For Learning

The Support for Learning Department has three key aims.

These are:

  1. To share an understanding of the continuum of Additional Support Needs so that there is a whole school approach. This is achieved through discussion, collaboration and cooperative teaching, supporting teachers in their provision of learning experiences for all pupils.

  2. To facilitate the earliest identification of Additional Support Needs and to work with all colleagues to plan and make provision for an appropriate curriculum. Whilst some children may have temporary difficulties e.g. through absence, others may have a need for long term support because they have Additional Support Needs. Some children may require a multi-agency approach in this identification and this will be encouraged when necessary. Their progress will be monitored, recorded and reported. Partnership between the school, parents and pupils and any relevant professionals is recognised as a fundamental requirement i.e. collaboration in a multi disciplinary team.

  3. To support all children in their learning so that they achieve their potential and are successful learners. Support for Learning provides challenging activities and extension work for the able.
