Computing & Business Education

The role of the Computing & Business Education Department is to provide every member of the School community from Junior 1 through to the top end of the Senior School with a range of Information Technology use and training. Students who want to specialise in the study of Computing and Business Education can select one of the many SQA courses on offer.

Accommodation comprises of two rooms each equipped with 21 computers and a SMART board. The department has a selection of hardware and software available. In Transitus, students complete a specialised “Type to Learn” program to enhance their typing skills. Microsoft Office 2007, Adobe Flash & Fireworks are used regularly across courses within the department.

In the Junior School every student will attend IT at least once per week with a subject specialist. In Transitus, S1 and S2, an IT course is offered to all pupils for 2 periods per week. In S3 and S4, Standard Grade Computer Studies is offered for 3 periods per week. In S4 students can chose to study Intermediate 2 Administration or Intermediate 2 Computing (over 1 year) or Higher Computing (over two years). In Fifth and Sixth Year, courses are offered at Higher Level for Business Management, Administration and Computing. Advanced Higher presentation is also available.
