School wins Xscape Choir Challenge Trophy

Three of our senior girls, along with Principal Teacher of Music Julie Smart, were at Xscape on Tuesday 2nd March to receive their trophy, on behalf of the Choir, as winners of the Xscape Choir Challenge 2009.

The trophy was presented by Ian Anderson General Manager at Xscape. The competition was open to all schools and community groups in the Glasgow area and the choirs competed in public at Xscape. In true X Factor tradition the winners were chosen by votes from members of the public.

Ian Anderson said, ‘Belmont House School are worthy winners of the Choir Challenge. The competition took place just before Christmas 2009. Belmont House had a really high level of support from the public for their performance so it was no real surprise that they turned out to be the eventual winners. The Choir Challenge is now in its second year and it is a great way for us to use Xscape to show-case local talent.'

Mrs Smart said, ‘The school is really delighted to have won this competition and the pupils loved performing in the Xscape log cabin. It is really good that Xscape is getting involved in these sorts of community events and we can't wait to come back to defend our title in December!'

The School also received a winner's cheque for £1000 which will be used to opurchase some additional musical equipment.
