Senior 2 Junior Duke of Edinburgh Group - Overnight camp out at Tyndrum

11-12 September 2009 saw a large group of 16 Senior 2 pupils make camp at the ‘By the Way' campsite, right next to the West Highland Way.

So began the first element of their Junior DoE programme, the School's trailblazing introduction to the various elements of this most worthwhile of enterprises. Combining many of the core ideas within the Curriculum for Excellence such as team work, working with others, taking responsibility for themselves and others and getting out into the wider community to meet other people to become responsible citizens.

The course has been running for a number of years and this year's large group found the whole experience really worthwhile. The various pictures let you see what they got up to.

The pupils will also have a full DoE skills weekend up at Callander Camp and specialist First Aid training so that next year when they start the full Bronze award they are as prepared as they can be for the real thing.

Congratulations to the pupils involved who were all very responsible and worked effectively together and also to the staff who helped everything run so smoothly.
