Junior School
The Junior School is a vibrant, happy, and very busy department in the school. With the Nursery, Junior and Senior Schools all being on the same campus there are excellent links between departments.
Teaching is interactive and, where possible, closely linked to real life experiences. All subjects in the 5-14 Curriculum are taught, with some subjects such as PE, Computing, Art, and French, being delivered by specialist teachers from the Senior School. Our small class sizes allow for individual attention and encourages close friendships to be formed.
Children are encouraged to be good citizens, care for the environment and look after their own health and mental wellbeing via the Eco-Schools Scotland, Health Promoting Schools and our own in-house Assemblies, Pupil Council and House Meetings. The School promotes an ethos of achievement, tolerance and understanding and to this end there are high expectations of good manners and good behaviour which are developed through the use of Circle Time, Golden Time and Positive Play.
Each year fundraising activites raise money which is given to a variety of worthy causes and charities. We participate in National competitions, often with great success, have field trips to many places of interest and encourage reading through ‘World Book Day' and other National Literacy Days.
Pupils in Junior 6 sit the cycling proficiency test and a programme of Emergency First Aid, with affiliation to Heart Start Scotland, is well underway as a regular part of our curriculum.
Belmont House Junior School is an outstanding and exciting place to learn.
