Eighteen pupils and four staff undertook the Bronze Assessment for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in May.
The route took the pupils from Strathyre down the Western side of Loch Lubnaig and along Loch Venachar to their wild camp. The pupils were then overseen by their Assessor, Mr Lee, as they cooked their main Friday night meal. Groups were also asked about their expedition aims and the route for Day 2.
In the rain, the first real downpour for quite a while, the three trekking groups headed off on the Rob Roy Way, over the forest track and down into outskirts of Aberfoyle.
Of course whilst the expedition has now been successfully undertaken the three groups must still prepare their presentations and present them to Mr Lee, who will then write up a report on the group.
My thanks to all the staff who helped out to ensure a safe return for the 18 pupils- another healthy sized group. It is hoped that some of these pupils will go on and do the Silver Award.
